I'm posting photographs taken from around my neighborhood of Hongdae - a place that many artists, indie musicians, and students call home. Aside from the occasional encounters with obnoxious foreigners who come to get plastered and go clubbing on the weekends or on Club Day, I am feeling quite comfy in my little urban neck of the woods.
Several years back I used to live in Sinchon, which is situated just next to Hongdae. Sinchon is also a youthful area, with a range of places to play like noraebang (karaoke), DVD rooms, clubs, and bars. Despite the proximity, however, the two college districts have distinct identities and cater to different crowds. The one thing that I've come to appreciate in Hongdae is the celebration of art and its integration, in manifest forms, into the local living space.
